[ENG-SPN] A house with history / Una casita con historia

There is, located on the side of the main road that crosses a beautiful town on the Costa Quebrada de Cantabria and whose name, I give myself the Cervantes protection of overlooking, a certain little house, which by dint of its magnetic picturesqueness, immediately captures the attention of the traveller, who, surrendering to the spell of her seductive presence, stops curiously in front of the threshold, although from the other side of the road, and admiring her with the same passion with which he would admire the painting of a great Flemish master, it does not take long in finding out the endearing secret, which makes her an unusual but happy cause for hope.

Well, the secret of the aforementioned house - small but gallant, as the Asturian neighbors would say, referring to the much-loved Virgin of Covadonga - which also gives the happy impression of having been recently restored and painted, lies in something so spectacular and beautiful, as is the gratitude and donation of an entire people, to the figure of a teacher, whose selfless life in favor of education, was, I have no doubt, a saving beacon that removed from here the terrible gales of ignorance.

Hay, situada a la vera de la carretera general que atraviesa una hermosa población de la Costa Quebrada de Cantabria y de cuyo nombre, me otorgo al amparo cervantino de pasar por alto, cierta casita, que a fuerza de su magnético pintoresquismo, capta enseguida la atención del viajero, quien, rindiéndose al hechizo de su seductora prestancia, se detiene curioso frente al umbral, aunque desde el otro lado de la carretera, y admirándola con la misma pasión con la que admiraría el cuadro de un gran maestro flamenco, no tarda en averiguar el entrañable secreto, que hace de ella un inusual aunque feliz motivo de esperanza.

Pues el secreto de la susodicha casita -pequeñina pero galana, como dirían los vecinos asturianos, refiriéndose a la muy querida Virgen de Covadonga- que además, da la feliz impresión, también, de haber sido recientemente restaurada y pintada, reside en algo tan espectacular y hermoso, como es el agradecimiento y donación de todo un pueblo, a la figura de un maestro, cuya abnegada vida en favor de la educación, fue, no me cabe duda, faro salvador que alejó de aquí las terribles galernas de la ignorancia.
