RE: Heroes of Photography Weekly: #2 Ansel Adams, The Definitive Landscape Photographer

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Ah this is great! I'm off to read the other post in your series now! I have recently starting photographing myself and fast found a passion for it. Landscape photography is the genre I'm least good at! I love the quote from Ansel Adams at the end of your post. This mysterious way of photographs is what got me hooked... how a great image can take your breath away and make you feel and remember things, - no words required! Cheers, and followed!

Thank you for your positive feedback. Great to hear you have started photography, it's a wonderful way of expressing yourself. Landscape photography is actually not particularly hard, but it usually involves carrying a bit of equipment on long hikes and at very early or late hours, which is why it isn't done much by amateur photographers. Ansel Adams did that with a large format camera and a bag full of film holders. You should take a look at the size some of those contraptions to really understand what that means.
While making this series, I have come to realise that photographers are surprisingly good at making profound quotes.
I totally agree with you about the power of images. Some of my favourite images (such as Snake River and the Tetons) simply stun me over and over again, even though I have seen them countless times.
