Enjoying the sunny days: Small Lake Canoeing
As you may know, the summers here in Finland isn't always as stable as they could be... The weather usually contains lots of wind, rain and dark clouds and the temperature night time has been down to under 10°C, but recently the weather has been okay and I absolutely love being outside so I'm trying to enjoy every minute of sunshine and heat I can get!
A few days ago when I was visiting my hometown Taalintehdas down as much south as you can get in Finland, me and my girlfriend decided to go canoeing. The weather was finally better and as we had nothing better to do we went canoeing for a few hours.
The place were we went canoeing is called "Träske" in swedish which directly translated means "swamp", but it is a small lake about 2km from the center of our little city. It's a quiet little lake where you can go to relax your mind and thoughts and just enjoy the beautiful scenery.
This is where we boarded the canoe, it was so calm and quiet and so beautiful with all the water lilies
And so we begun, as you can see my girlfriend were doing the hardwork while I was taking pictures
The lake were filled with marshland and there went these beautiful narrow paths through some places
There were placed sticks with red stripes at the beginning of the narrow paths, otherwise they would have been hard notice
Here are the beautiful water lilies, we were having some trouble taking the picture as the wind had started to blow and the canoe wouldn't want to stay still
We continued our way even though it got a bit windy, it was still enjoyable
As long as we kept ourselves close to land we could keep going nice and easy
On the other hand some places were completely wind still
It was a beautiful day to go canoeing, I felt like a whole new person afterwards, my mind was fully cleansed and my neck sun burned, what more can you ask for.
great pics I'm sure you had a great day out on the canoe. I love canoeing too! My friend here in canada moved to finland 4 years ago to play hockey and he since got married there and is probably not moving back lol I was in Helsinki to visit a couple times, what an awesome place :)

Ye hockey is kinda big here in Finland, not that I'm very interested in it.. And in the matter of fact I live in helsinki, moved here a few years ago, used to live a bit on the country side and moved to the big city, pros and cons with bouth places I guess. :)
