Bare bulb portrait and RAW file included of phase one - PHOTOSHOOT
i've posted this before but i feel i didn't do it justice as i didn't attach the original image. This time round i have and even i'm shocked out how much i must of retouched this but looking at it there are still bits i could of retouched more i think. I'm not a huge fan of retouching photographs to much i understand enhancing them a little is needed now and again but lately i just find it to fake. For me portraits are about the reality of a persons face so a few blemishes here and there i do get rid of but the rest is pretty much all done by correct lighting. This was for a magazine cover for a make up artist that specialised in airbrush make up so i had to pretty much make sure the skin is ridiculously clean and kind of overdone just to attract people to flick through the magazine.
This was shot on a phase one iQ40 i think i don't actually remember the exact model of the digital back but the files of this thing are amazing. You can pull back so much detail from the highlights and shadows also pushing the contrast up doesn't give you that horrible banding in the blacks.
Lit using a bare bulb flash with a parabolic reflector you see it peeking through the corner in the raw image.
I've attached the RAW file also so if you want a bash at it feel free to do so. Also it gives anyone who hasn't had a chance to push a medium formats files to the limits. It's fun!
The file is huge it's around 42mb by the way.
