From Flower Buds to Grapefruits - #Smartphonephotography
This is a beautiful smelling, fully blossomed grapefruit flower. If you have ever smelled the sweet fragrance of an orange blossom it is similar to that yet also reminded me of a jasmine flower. Sweet and uplifting, a beautiful enchanting fragrance sure to brighten your mood. If you ever get a chance to smell a grapefruit flower you definitely should!
My children and I were taking a walk near our home in an area quite moist and wet, at around 2,000 feet elevation, where grapefruits were growing quite abundantly. I was fascinated with the different stages and I wanted to capture as many of the stages as I could. So here is a sequential look at the many stages of a grapefruit, from flower buds, to fully grown grapefruits, I hope you enjoy them.

Have a great day!
It is a lemon, is not???
No our lemons around here can get pretty big but not that big. I don't know if you can tell but its bigger than my hand in one of the pictures and has a slightly pinkish orange tinge on one of them, the riper of the two.
Unfortunately our lemons around here look like they have bumpy yellow tumors all over them. There must be a wasp or some kind of insect in our area that loves to embed into their skins which can cause the bumpy deformities.
But I can see from the cluster of grapefruits in the tree how you might think they were lemons. Thanks for your question hope this helps.
Awesome pictures! I like grapefruits and oroblancos.
Thank you! Yes, I love grapefruits too. What are oroblancos?
It is a mix between a grapefruit and pomelo. The ones that I get from a farm not too far, they are very golden and like 3x bigger than a grapefruit and supppppper juicy. They are sweet and kind of bitter at the same time. People take out the white membrane from inside to remove the bitterness, but I like them for all the nutrients. =)
Wow they sound amazing! I wonder if anyone is growing them here on the Big Island of Hawaii? Well now I need to try oroblancos! Thanks for taking the time to explain them by the way, great description!
Aloha Janelle! Just checking up to see how you are on the big island with the volcanic activities. Hope all is well!
Oh thank you for your concern! Well we are holding up where we are, earthquakes have been a bit nerve racking but our dear volcano goddess has only begun her most recent creation of molten lava birthing new Earth. Countless images have been reported of the volcano goddess showing herself in various ways. Its quite amazing actually. Many have been displaced though. Those I know who are clairvoyant feel this is not the big one yet, she is only just getting started. Messages coming through telling all who live near the new eruptions to make preparations for new homes elsewhere, that little will be spared in the birthing of her newest creation. Its quite amazing to see the way the people are responding. Heartbroken of course but the deep respect for the processes of creation and the incredible powers of Mother Earth. Its beautiful and devastating all rolled into one.
Amazing...
