Under The Sea
For me, on this little island I call home, there is nothing in the world more gratifying than spending an entire afternoon in the water exploring. Whether it is scuba diving, free diving or just snorkeling, I am able to enter a completely different world. It’s a beautiful, tranquil, quiet realm when I am out there, especially when I go out to points where I find myself in 100+ feet of open ocean. Out there a calmness takes over. Watching all of the thousands of colorful and graceful marine life is captivating beyond explanation. Having the opportunity to swim along side sea turtles, sting rays, barracuda… Sneaking up on the unsuspecting octopus or even chancing at noticing the tiny seahorse clinging to some seagrass inside of a sunken structure. Finding the lobster or crabs hiding in the rocks… the starfish, even the sharks, all of it makes my days spent in the water the most quality days of my life.
Ever since I was young, I always wanted to be in the water. Whether it was the pool or at the beach, it was a struggle to get me out. Saint Croix has brought me back in touch with with that essence of who I am as a person. Being in the sea, it is my church, my sanctuary. Every time I spend any amount of time out in the salt water, i emerge feeling cleansed and recharged. Mentally and physically. The greatest part of my being feels a real and true connection to the water. It is home.
I recently purchased a Sealife 2.0 underwater digital camera and am in the beginner stages of discovering the skills for underwater photography. I have not taken any classes and am truly an ammeter but I am learning something new everyday and hope one day to be able to turn this new found hobby of mine into something lucrative. Let me know what you think about some of the photos I’ve taken so far or any pointers you may have are always appreciated as well!
If you enjoyed these photos up vote, follow, and comment on the adventure! This is just the beginning of things to come over the next few months. I'm looking forward to sharing as many of the wonders of the sea as I can with all of you. In the future I will be showing lobstering and spear fishing footage along with the general sight seeing! You can also check out some of my past posts if you are looking for more underwater and island photos.
Nice! I've got to get back to the ocean!
Yes! There is nothing like it, I decided a couple of weeks back that I need to be in the Sea at least 5 days a week and I can tell the difference already.
Great post! Keep sharing things like this, and you'll get rewarded eventually!
Thank you for the support!
Cool this is awesome to see the turtle! Spear fishing pictures sound fun, following you and looking forward to more!
It was incredible how close that turtle let me get to him and for how long. Those moments are what I moved to Saint Croix for! Thanks for following.
