Exploring the beauty of Dawki and Shillong- A Steem powered journey

in #photography7 years ago

Life goes on and someday takes you to a place where you never thought you could be there, enjoying, living the moment with favorite people. All you should do in that moment is just live it and forget everything else.

As festive season is just in front to hit us up so I wish you all a healthy and peaceful Christmas and Happy new year. May God bless you and your family.

In this post I'm here to share you about the journey we made a week ago and to take you the beautiful face of Shillong and Dawki in North-East India which is blessed with eternal peace and prosperity, cleanliness and dedication of the people to the nation.

We started our journey in the morning by bus as for there's no train service in Meghalaya due to the hills. It took us nearly 7 hours to reach the Shillong main town which is a bit more than usual because of the prime minister's convoy creating traffic jam.

Shillong is not a big city, but is beautiful, Immensely beautiful and clean. Cleanliness is at their heart. I was amazed when some of the touristers threw an empty packet of chips out the car, our driver just overtook the car and told them not to throw plastics like that in roads and that **Shillong is for everyone, not just for them** all with peace. I wish everyone in the country was as concerned as these people about cleanliness.

We stopped at the first viewpoint in the road, sorry I forgot name of the place but it was awesome being there

This was the view down there. The road we passed. Isn't that scary now?
Road to be taken further
@iamyuvi it's funny, man ;)

Next there were as many viewpoints but we could be to some of them for we had to return to hotel by 6 in the evening.

Dawki river

This beauty of Dawki river is really commendable. The calm green water really adds value to its beauty. Its clear water really makes you to go for a Boating and so did we.

Dawki is in the border of Bangladesh and India situated near the Jayantia hills. Though being a small town Dawki is the trade centre between India and Bangladesh. During the winters being suitable for boating, is one of the most popular tourist places in Meghalaya.

Mawlynnong Village

This beautiful dustbin is from Mawlynnong Village and is what I loved the most in there. Even dustbins aren't of plastics so you don't expect a small empty packet of plastics lying there. In front of every other house dustbin is a must. **That's what makes it deserving to get awarded for being the 'Cleanest village in Asia' by Discover India since 2003 **
Besides being cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong has been blessed with literacy rate of 100% and in a top position for women empowerment activities up in the state of Meghalaya. Also the traditional food in there is mouth watering.

@iammanish loving Mawlynnong way too much ;)

Unique Root Bridge

Root bridge is so called for its built by connecting just the roots of the trees over there. The tree was of Rubber ie Ficus elastica or Ka Diengjri in Khasi language.

You can notice the two boys controlling traffic in the bridge not allowing to click photos standing on there and just one person at a time is allowed to cross it

Don't know its name but loved this flower.

Borhill falls

What are these people doing? :D

Borhill is more exciting and funful in summer though we loved climbing the hills up to reach there and enjoy.

Borhill hills are also home to many species of Honeybees. As these are hanging in such a way that no one can reach these bees they live freely.

Besides these all viewpoints Shillong city itself is a beauty
Shillong centre point is the centre to the all trade, communication, education etc.
