How SHROOMS can enhance your life

in #photography7 years ago

If you're a fan of hiking or spending time outdoors you should consider adding mushrooms into the mix. Foraging for mushrooms that is. Here's my three top reasons why you should start keeping an eye out for mushrooms!

1. It can save you money!

I highly recommend that you can find a good mushroom foraging book for your region that can help you identify edible and poisonous mushrooms. Edible mushrooms are almost always very nutritious and you can often get large yields that last several meals. The morel mushrooms pictured above were found in a family member's garden and we made two meals: mushroom bruschetta and vegan mushroom risotto! Also, if you're lucky enough to find morel mushrooms - you can also consider selling them for a very good price to a local fancy restaurant. ;)

2. Foraging is challenging and very rewarding.

Even if you don't enjoy the taste of mushrooms, maybe you want to consider foraging for mushrooms for the thrill! Seriously, there's nothing like going on a long morning hike for a few hours and hunting for mushrooms. You never know what new, strange mushroom you will find. When you do find a new mushroom I promise you it's extremely satisfying! It's like a natural version of treasure hunting. Additionally, with the help of a mushroom foraging book, you will also gain very practical knowledge in trees, plants, and animal life as well. You never know, these skills may save your life in an apocalyptic scenario one day.

3. Mushrooms are beautiful

Are you looking for a new way to gain some Instagram - or better yet, Steemit followers?? I guarantee you can impress them with very unique and picturesque shots of mushrooms. It's quite addictive and you can have tons of fun with this new hobby. If I've convinced you, give me a shout after you've gone on your first forage and tag me in your post! I'd love to see your shots.

cool! haha my friend was picking mushrooms the other day from her yard but I definitely want to do some research on the other mushrooms in the world and actually go on an adventure looking for them!

Good for her! So many of my friends and acquaintances totally brush aside the idea of picking mushrooms in their yard and they throw them away like weeds. Or they just cut them down with their lawnmower.

Every day can be an adventure looking for mushrooms. :) Next time you're in a local park, look around the base of hardwood trees and shrubs.

Thank you. Good article!
antiviral properties; Dr. Paul Stamets ; US-biodefense shield/ study 2006!! results:

Pharmalobby wants us weak and sick!!!! It so obvious.

A little bit hard to make out most of those photos. I know that Red Reishi is very common in my area though.

there is a long list of viral attacks you can defend by simply eating a blend of mushrooms, it includes influenza, yellowfever, dengie fever, malaria, H2N5, H1N1birdflu, ecetera ecetera. It is not published and in the main stream but hidden in the US biodefense military. By pubishing these important findings about antiviral properties of reishi & friends we could save millions of lives every year.
pharmaindustry would have a huge loss when influenca vaccines become obsolete.
