This was taken during the parade celebrating Greek Independence Day in NYC. Greek Independence Day is March 25, 1821 and represents the day that Greece officially declared [the beginning of] its independence from the ottoman turks. Since there’re a lot of events happening in NYC this was the best date that it could be scheduled on, hence why it happened a month later.
