The above photo is some of our lettuce that we grow on our lanai. We are trying to grow all of our own vegetables, and we have been pretty successful on our tiny lanai in Honolulu Hawaii. We decided to do a series over time of what we do.

Step 1

We fill one of our pots with some of the dirt/compost that we make in a trash can. We use this mix as a base. We are using some Buttercrunch Lettuce seeds from a local grower. The mix is damp.

Step 2

We then sprinkle some of the seeds on the surface of the damp dirt that is lightly packed.

Step 3

We cover the seeds with a thin layer of new potting soil. This is dry. We do not pack it down. We then put it on the rack and water the pot.
