If you're looking for somewhere in NSW, Australia to take astrophotography, and not have to drive 6 hours from the city, check out Jenolan Caves area!

Sometimes you prepare yourself for a LONGGGGG night of astrophotography, hoping for a nice time lapse... You cannot help but be in the path of nature !!!! I love this game... It can really get to you when clouds and mist come over, but what can you do? I did this :) And now I'm not so displeased! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Thanks nature :) So if you're planning to stay there for a weekend or more to take photos, there's plenty to do!

10 minutes from Jenolan Caves, a MUST if you're travelling through this area! Plenty of accommodation, food and alcohol.

Bortle scale is super low, 1 to 2. Amazing sky there! And it's in the mountains so it's a bonus. Beware the mist...

If you enjoy Saffron Milkcap mushrooms, autumn is a great time, which also coincides with the milkyway centre being out while the moon is long gone! No stars during the day, so why not collect some tasty mushrooms :) My family has been collecting these in Australia for over 50 years now! A simple vinegar pickle works a treat, I cannot get enough of these mushrooms pickled! I literally have kilos and kilos of it jarred in my pantry hehe.

WARNING: PLEASE do your own research when picking mushrooms in the wild. 1000s of people pick these mushrooms each year, and it's hard to confuse these with poisonous ones, but just be safe and ALWAYS do your own research when picking in the wild. #SurviveResponsibly

How did you manage to get the images
From your phone?
They are wonderful
And it really shows what lies beyond the mist

Definitely not from a phone :)
Sony a7ii camera + samyang 24mm f1.4 lens. This is about 2000 iso and a 20 second exposure. Phones might be able to get some decent astro shots one day, but cameras will always be ahead of the game.

Alright
The quality is just cool

@sharp-veils @sumsum007 Thanks guys :) More to come! Autumn is here...
