'' Dragon Mountain '' | photographic travel #1 POLAND | foto.trip
'' Dragon Mountain ''
There was a legend about a beautiful village that was built on the top of the mountain, with time the inhabitants began to be more greedy, dissolute and shameless, because of this behavior a curse was cast on them. One night the whole village was in flames, people who tried to fight the fire saw a huge beast resembling a dragon in flames. Fire took away everything, the few who survived on the next day found in the ruins a huge smooth stone, they came closer to see it, suddenly it began to burst and a beast with shining eyes emerged from within...
That's how the story ends. To commemorate these events, a statue of the young dragon in chains was placed on the top of the mountain.
I did not expect that '' Game of thrones '' was also taking place on Polish lands ;) On of my favorite tv show. Do You like it as well?
Wdżar is the real name of the mountain, located in south-eastern Poland in the Kluszkowce villige, it has a volcanic origin. In old times, vulcanic rock named andesite was exploited there, which was used for construction.
Views from the summit are beautiful especially on clear days on the horizon you can see the highest mountains in Poland named Tatry. (I did not have so much luck that day)
The new part of the village of Kluszkowce seen in the picture was built from the necessity of resettling people from the areas designated for the construction of the Czorsztyn Lake in one of the next posts I will try to show You old part of the village that was not flooded and give more information about the lake.
In the picture below, on the left side, on the top of the mountain there is a starting platform for an extreme downhill mountain bike trail. (actually looks much scarier than in the picture, very steep slope)
On this side of the mountain , a ski slope is started in the winter time (central and right part of the photo).
Old rock quarries are now used for tourist purposes on one side of a mountain man-made canyon is a climbing wall on the other side of the mountain a hiking nature trail is created and a chairlift is running above it.
If you like it, you can visit. Here is Google maps location
see You on the next one :)
Greetings Milo
This is a great looking place! I’m sure the pictures don’t do the real (in-person) view justice!
It is a wonderful place If you have the opportunity to see it with your own eyes, you know where to find it ;) I recommend it
