Tips For Shoot Macro Photography of Flowers
Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Macro photography is a style in photography that emphasizes small details to be shot. The most popular photo objects for macro photography include flowers, leaves, insects, and other objects in nature that we don't normally see in close-up.
Visiting the flower garden in my hometown, I took a variety of beautiful flowers. Yeah, that's really amazing. A variety of colors in different combinations to create a truly perfect composition. Actually, I don't really know about the types of them either. So I will not tell you much about them. However, feel free to let me know what the flower do you like in the comments. :)
Perhaps, it would be better to share tips to shoot macro photos. Yeah, even with limited knowledge that I have, here some tips I use to shoot my macro photos. I hope this will be useful.
1. Use The Good Macro Lens
Focal lenght of macro lens generally 50mm to 200mm. Moreover, a 50-60mm lens is suitable for general macro functions, but if you want a sharper subject, you should use a 100mm lens, but it is definitely more expensive.
2. Set-Up Aperture to Control Depth Of Field
To get the most appropriate depth of field, use a smaller aperture around f/16 or f/22. Since the sharp space of the macro lens is so shallow (it means, the front of the flower you shoot can really focus while the crown is just 2.5cm behind it can be completely unfocused). Then you should be get as much sharp space as possible. It can only happen if you set-up your aperture at f/22.
3. Use a Good Light
In macro photos, you should get as much light as possible. Remember, whatever you shoot, don't add the flash light from your camera. Because it can be damage the subject of your macro photos. Instead, there is a special flash, it's a ring flash. this this equipment will illuminate your objects from all sides, then creates a very smooth light.
4. Making Water Droplets on The Flowers
To get the effect of dew on the flowers, don't wait until it rains. Bring a bottle of water and sprinkle it on the flower so as to create a fresh look from the raindrops. It would be looks great in this macro photography. In addition, if you aim closely enough, you can see the shadow in the water droplets. It so cool!
There are so many experiments you can do to improve your macro photos. An important point in macro photography is your lens. But, the main point is your creativity. :)
Beautiful photography!
Thank you, @sardrt!
Good post & wonderful macros!
Well, indeed creativity is the strength point when it comes to macros - although good lens can help, you still need to control the light, angles and background :)
