Monument PLTD (Diesel Power Plant) Apung, TSUNAMI Aceh...

This monument is one proof of the strength of this Aceh Tsunami located in Punge Village, Blancut, Banda Aceh. This ship is a source of electricity for the Ulee Lheue region - where the ship was tethered before the tsunami.
This ship has a length of 63 meters, capable of generating power of 10.5 megawatts. The vessel's width reaches 1,900 square meters and weighs 2,600 tons, who can imagine this ship can move up to the middle of Banda Aceh City.

In the December 26, 2004 tsunami, this floating PLTD was dragged by waves as high as 9 meters so it shifted to the heart of Banda Aceh as far as 5 kilometers. This ship crashed down to the middle of the settlement residents.

At the time of the tsunami there were 11 crew members and some residents who were aboard. And only one person survived. The phenomenon of this ship shift proved the awesomeness of the wave power that hit Banda Aceh at that time.

Monument ini adalah salah satu bukti dari kekuatan Tsunami aceh ini terletak di Desa Punge, Blancut, Banda Aceh. Kapal ini merupakan sumber tenaga listrik untuk wilayah Ulee Lheue – tempat kapal ini ditambatkan sebelum terjadinya tsunami.
Kapal ini memiliki panjang 63 meter, mampu menghasilkan daya sebesar 10,5 megawatt. Luas kapal ini mencapai 1.900 meter persegi dan berat 2.600 ton, siapa yang dapat membayangkan kapal ini dapat bergerak hingga ke tengah Kota Banda Aceh.

Pada terjadi tsunami tanggal 26 Desember 2004, PLTD apung ini terseret gelombang setinggi 9 meter sehingga bergeser ke jantung Kota Banda Aceh sejauh 5 kilometer. Kapal ini terhempas hingga ke tengah-tengah pemukiman warga.

Pada saat tsunami ada 11 orang awak dan beberapa warga yang berada di atas kapal. Dan hanya satu orang yang berhasil selamat. Fenomena pergeseran kapal ini membuktikan kedahsyatan kekuatan gelombang yang menimpa Banda Aceh pada saat itu.
