Yggdrasil the Tree of Life (Original PhotoSet) - Afrika Burn 2017
"Yggdrasil, Tree of Life biggest structure of Afrika Burn 2017 (by Agust Helgason)"
During my first Afrika Burn this year, I noticed this big structure when I arrived on site. The first night I never slept, and when feeling the first hours of this early morning I decided to walk toward the structure that had intrigued me the day before.
The Vodchokolate Machine
Once inside I met two guys, that were pretending to have built this structure, they seemed a bit tired and drunk (I was too, since I had drunk probably half of my bottle of Jack that I carried with me during the night). They briefly told me their story and that it had been a month they were here building The Tree of Life. Suddenly Simon (one of the guy), told me to follow him, they offered me vodka and melted chocolate out of a strange machine that you had to activate a pump for it to release the melted mixture... but I forgot to take a picture, I was too amazed.
Simon and Kai, builders and Guardians of Yggdrasil, Tree of Life at AfrikaBurn.
I warmly hugged and thank them for this gift and also congratulated them for this huge amount of work they achieved building the structure with the rest of their team. Then I kept visiting and shooting this sort of temple.
There was a ramp allowing visitors to climb it up and have a nice view from up there. The entire structure made of recycled pieces of wood that were all put together in a very tribal and intricated way.
Here is a link of the crowfunding that had been raised for the project :

Thanks for the support following too!
Great story man :) I am sure it has a magic feel to it when you are there. I am sure because i can even feel that in the photos. Great capture. And the way Sony renders colors continues to surprise me. Great editing ofc.
Thanks David if you go there or any burners regional events you will have a ton of stories to remember and to count to people. I love Sony really they are technology jewels but a bit fragile. I'm the kind to have no mercy for my gear and for that Nikon was better.
In that case i am more of a careful guy :) And Nikon, my whole career i was a Nikon guy. Love the Camera and build, it was built for war for no reason. But they mostly use Sony and other third party electronics. Sony recently made an amazing job performance vise, if they improve the ergonomics in the future that would be a killer for many other makes.
Totally agree...
