Ferapontov Monastery

Ferapontov Belozersky Bogoroditsa-Nativity Monastery is an active male monastery of the Vologda Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, located in the village of Ferapontovo, Kirillovsky District, Vologda Region.

For 400 years, the monastery was one of the most important cultural and religious educational centers of the Belozersky Territory. The ensemble of architecture and mural painting of the pre-Petrine era, unique in cleanliness and safety, has been preserved here. In 2000, the UNESCO Session of the Monastery included in the World Heritage List. The monastery has a museum of frescoes Dionysius - a branch of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve.
