Some Various Shots from Around St. Petersburg

I have been wanting to post a bunch of these photos and videos that I have been taking from around the city over the last couple of months, but have been so focused on Steemit Strategies, #payitforward, Victory Day and some history posts that I haven't gotten to it.

Therefore, today is picture day on my page. Enjoy these shots from around my adopted city.

@energyaddict 22, tomorrow 19th of may - night of museums in St. Petersburg. All night museums are open to the public free of charge. Only one entrance ticket for all museums. Learn more about this and maybe you will have the opportunity to visit important museums for you.

Yes, thank you. Museum Night is one of my favorites, but it is very crowded now and usually you can only get into a few museums because of long lines. However, my wife is a tour guide so we get to see quite a bit of everything all through the year. I'm very lucky.

Your photos are so beautiful! I've never been to Russia, but a few years ago, we befriended a man from St. Petersburg (in Canada), and after seeing so many of his photos, it has been on my list of "places to go". The architecture alone is stunning, but the history encapsulated in your choices really tell a story.

I hear you regarding the Pay it Forward contest consuming so much time :) I'm so glad you found some extra time to post this! Thank you.

Thanks Lynne! Yes, it is a beautiful city with a lot to see and learn about. You are welcome to join us anytime here.

Aww thank you! You'll be first on my list to see if I do ever travel there :)

I ditto what you said @lynncoyle. I backed out of a trip all over Eastern Europe and Russia that one of my college history professors organized...and I've kicked myself ever since!!

Ugh! Hind sight really is 20/20 isn't it ?!! :)

Sigh, your photos are lovely - I fell in love with St. Petersburg when I visited with an orchestra a few years back...your images make me miss it deeply. I was there in early March and I got to see the Neva River slowly melt over my stay of two weeks, it was very beautiful.

The ice melting is always very cool. I do love the frozen rivers and the winter in the countryside here, but Summer and Autumn are definitely the best times to be in the city.

Thanks for sharing a peek into such beautiful, and historic surroundings. Glad you popped up on the Hive bomb today. Your Steemit Strategies have been on my to do list for weeks. Getting more involved with communities has been a bit more time consuming than anticipated.
It is raining here today so maybe I can watch some of those vids. Hopefully I can work on time management enough to implement some of that great info.
Just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know the series is valuable and very much appreciated.

My pleasure and I am glad that they are helpful. Thanks for coming by and commenting. Also, feel free to let me know if you have any questions. All the best.

Excellent photos J.R. They really capture the feel of Saint Petersburg. This is one of the many places I am looking forward to travelling to and once I finish up my tour of the United States I'll start creating my world list. Thank you for sharing the photos.

My pleasure to share. Thanks for the compliment. I certainly suggest a visit once you start your World Tour. I'm taking my wife on a tour of the U.S. this October/November.

Whereabouts will you be visiting here in the states?

We've just completed our 3rd day of living on the road. It's been fun, stressful and full of adventure.

We will be doing a cross country tour starting in Philly to the West Coast and back. 2 different routes. My wife hasn't seen many of the States yet and hasn't met my entire family which is spread out over the country. The places we won't be the Southeast, New England and the far Northwest.

Sounds like a blast. Have a great time and most importantly, be safe.

St. Isaac's Cathedral picture zoomed in on the center unfinished sort of cap top, up slightly and to the left, camera artifact or UFO? Kind of smallish glowing slightly reflective ord thing.

They sure like tall skinny looking things don't they. Some nice pictures, I did not notice any other anomalies just that first one.

Yes, there is a cap over the top of the Cathedral. They were doing some renovations. It was removed just this week, but I haven't been over to take some new photos.

The spires in the architecture of some buildings is definitely unique, but isn't religiously inspired. I will check into why this is so prevalent.

The object is likely a drone that is photographing. It appears to be too large to be a bird. I didn't notice it until you mentioned it and I zoomed in. Good eyes.

I guess they have drones everywhere, still some cool buildings, much older looking than most building we see in America. I doubt that there are very many buildings left from pre 1920 over here. Not an old enough society yet, to learn/develop a unique American style, that will last for ages.

Mostly because Americans don't like "old". We want the latest and greatest of everything and I don't necessarily think that it is a bad thing, but we do lose something of our past in the process sometimes.

In St. Petersburg, it is against the law to build any building taller than St. Isaac's Cathedral in the center of the city. It has been that way since the cathedral was built. Even the Gazprom Tower, which is now the tallest in Europe had to be placed outside the city limits.

As for drones, we have thousands of drone photography/video enthusiasts here. It is quite popular and has created some issues with government agencies on security issues. I recently edited an article about this regarding nuclear facilities here in Russia.

No Peterhof here? Come on Jerry, this is the best place I think :) at least this is the first place that I suggest to visit when I'm asked about this

I haven't been out to Peterhof yet this year. All these places are in the center. Haven't been to Pushkin yet either. Also, I was waiting for the fountains and flowers. I will get them on here soon. I promise.

Wow! What a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing these awesome pictures with us! :)

My pleasure. Thanks for stopping by.

Whenever you are ready to visit, we will gladly have you. It is worth the trip to see it all. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
