18 meters from the lightning. Photo of life
Austrian photographer Peter Pammer has long hunted lightning. Finally, he succeeded in making the coveted photograph. Pammer performed it during a violent storm that passed over Austria on June 23rd. This is most likely one of the closest lightning shots anyone ever managed to capture in a photograph.
As the photographer and the storm hunter claimed, he managed to capture the lightning just 18 meters away. For lightning not to "illuminate" photos, he used a short shutter speed. Still, a light beam of light appeared around the lightning. In fact, lightning has a few to a dozen centimeters, most often it is wide for the thickness of the thumb.
Giant energy - about a billion joules
The main discharge attracts the most attention, but equally interesting are the smaller lightning bolts that hit the ground to its right and left. They look like arrows. Around the place of the lightning stroke, the vegetation bent to the side and burned in the very place.
Lightning is a gigantic energy, approximately one billion joules, with which a 100-watt bulb can shine for 3 months. This energy appears only as tenth or hundredths of a second.
woow that's an amazing photo. I wouldnt dare to be that close and take a photo of a lighting. Thanks for sharing. Upvoted, resteemed:)

Does he talk about how he was able to catch this picture? It looks like it's in the middle of a field so how would you know where to look, stand, focus on, etc?
