Blood painting in the church

I saw this painting when I visited the Cathedral of St. Francisco in Quito. The guide said there is depicted Inquisition, but it seemed to me that something else is happening there. After reading the title carefully, I understood it was the destruction of monks in different parts of Jerusalem
