One Afternoon in FrancesteemCreated with Sketch.

As I've mentioned there were fantastical and historical objects everywhere one looked in France. Take this image. We stayed in a place called Carmensac near this little village. On Sunday, market day we went to Saint Cyprien. The village of Saint Cyprien, established in 640 AD, has narrow streets and is dominated by an abbey that dates from the 12th Century.

To say history abounds is a massive understatement. For a person from North America, the age of the buildings and the extensive history is slightly overwhelming.

The market is held on Rue Gambetta. Because the streets are narrow, people park half on the sidewalk and half on the street. If I didn't see others doing it, I would never have taken the liberty of parking on the sidewalk. And we get out of our vehicle, a 2011 single cylinder Citroen C5.

What do I see across the street? Why a classic Rolls Royce. Parked on the sidewalk. I believe this is a Rolls-Royce Phantom III built between 1936 and 1939, the last large pre-war Rolls Royce model built. It has a V12 engine and the famous 'The Spirit of Ecstasy' hood ornament.

If I am correct in identifying this model, it is one of only 774 built.
