Skipper II
Continuing my butterfly theme this week today with a couple of closeups and tighter crops. I had images of several butterflies to choose from, but none felt as suited for extreme closeup as the Skippers (Pelopidas sp.). There’s over 3500 species so I’m not gonna bother with trying to identify this specific one but anyone who knows feel free to comment! Skippers are technically something in-between a butterfly and a moth but are typically grouped with butterflies because they are diurnal. This 3/4 angle shows the bird turd a little better and I managed to nail the focus right on the eye as you’ll see in the extreme crop. All butterflies are extremely erratic in their flight, but these guys in particular dart about so quickly and suddenly I can’t even begin to imagine catching one in flight.
