On The Chesapeake Bay Bridge

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge aka the Bay Bridge.

All of my photos were taken from the vehicle that I was in while driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis, Maryland. I really liked the reflections showing up on the vehicle we were in so decided to leave them in my photos. It was very early in the morning and we were on our way to Ocean City, Maryland. I'm showing a few more photos that I took while we were on the bridge, in black and white as well.

The original span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge opened in 1952 and the parallel span opened in 1973. The Bay Bridge connects the Eastern Shore with the Western Shore. It spans 4.3 miles over the Chesapeake Bay.

Fun Fact
This week with the Thanksgiving holiday is one of the busiest travel weeks of the year and approximately 465,000 vehicles are expected to cross the Bay Bridge this week.

Guess what? There is also work currently being done on the bridge and there are some major back-ups during non holiday times. We (family and I) were stuck in a small back-up on our return trip from Ocean City. I can't even imagine what it will be like having to cross it this week. Although, I'm sure it will make the news here as it normally does! 😏
