Have ever think about travel to Rio de Janeiro? (With photos!)

in #photography7 years ago

So you wanna go to Rio de Janeiro. You probably saw some pictures in the internet or even watched it on the News because of the Olympic games on 2016. Now you wanna see the Christ with your own very eyes and maybe chill a little in the famous Copacabana beach drinking coconut’s water right from the fruit. Allow me to stop you there.

Copacabana beach is great, and the view from Christ the Redeemer is one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World but they far from be the only places you can enjoy around here. Before we move on, I wanna show this map:
This was the Rio de Janeiro’s map that was distribuited to the tourists during the time of the Olympic Games. And this is the map of the entire state:

Have you seen some difference? Yeah, the Rio de Janeiro state is waaay bigger than is showed in the first map. Okay, I get it, if you were in Brazil for the Olympics you were problably on capital, it would be kinda hard if you wanna travel around some distant points where the games aren’t happening. But it doesen’t mean there points are not worthy to know.
The first thing you should know is that are three principal points of turism in the state: the countryside (here we call it Serra), the litoral (named Região dos Lagos) and the capital (the map you seen before was a crap map of the capital, show only the most popular travel points and not even the entire capital).
The countryside is marked in the lightiest yellow, there you can visit the neighborhoods of Petropolis, Teresópolis and Nova Frigurbo, wich are the most famous ones. Some people think those places are the best for foreigners because of i'ts soft weather. Isin't hot in there as in the rest of the state. Also, it can be a really cultural travel since the town is full of museums, old churcs, and colonial architetur. A long time ago, Petropolis was the place where the imperator of Brazil, Dom Pedro I going to when he want some rest at summer, because of this fact, the town is also knowed as the Imperial Town. If you plan to go there, you can visit the Summer Palace (the biggest Palace of the cowntry) of the imperator who is now a museum. It have some beautiful gardens as well.
There is also some intresting points in this town you can visit, the Crystal Palace, the house of Santos Dumont, the brazilian inventor of the plane, the Museum of Wax, and more.

If you are not interest in the cultural aspects and like to travel more to be in direct contatact with the nature, the Serra Region can also be for you. There are inumerous waterfalls, ecological trails, rivers and the most stunning views! And I can talk about the diferences betwen the neightboorhoods of this part of town in the next posts if you guys want me to in the next posts!

Moving on we have the litoral. Even we call it here Região dos Lagos (Lakes' Region), there is the place where the gratest beaches are. So if you can to Brazil because of its tropical climate and brigth blue sea, there are the place for you. While in countryside you have a lot of rivers and sweet water, in litoral is about the sea. There is a lot of beaches where the fish swim really close to you. Is easy to find starfish and sea urchins as well.
There are beaches of every kind, the easy to arrive, the one with ecologic trails, the islands... You can also count with a lot of extra services that can make the experience even more adventurous, like schooner, banana boat and jet sky.

The last but not least is the Capital. Is for sure the most popular one, where you can find the Christ Redeemer, the Sugar Loaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach, the Sapucaí (where you can see the Samba's school parade at carnival), Maracanã Stadium and a lot of other destinys that the Rio's fans must know about. What they usually are doesen't aware is that the Capital is much more than that first map show. Just for comparasion, it's like make a map of New York without the Broklyn and ignore all the culture and history aspects of the place because it doesen't look pretty enougth.
I was born in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, but the Rio I get to know is much more different from that one on the first map, and I can tell you for sure, if you keep on that rote you'll get a beautifult travel, but rio is MORE than just beautiful. There are culture, there are tastes, there are history. The place of the first soccer play of the country. The home of the winner of the Samba's School contest. The perifery comunitys that inspired movies like as the City of God and Elite Squad. The currently mall that was build a long time ago as a factory. All of that is banneshed from that map, and this is what make me wanting to make this post, to tell you that theres much more of Rio you can get to know.

What i mean for it all is that there is a lot of underrated places in Rio de Janeiro that just need a chance for making your travel gets awesome. And its okay wanting to visit the popular places, but is aways nice to open your heart to have a experience beyond the usual with places most of people just don't know about.

Also, if you stay in the comfort zone of the map, you can spend much more money than you need.

So guys, I apreciate a lot if you read this so far! Let me know if you guys ever came to Rio, if you're planning and if you want me to post more about it! Thank you so much for the attencion! See you guys soon!
