Exploring an abandoned waterpark in Hue, Vietnam

Ho Thuy Tien opened in 2004 and cost about three million US dollars to build. It closed not too long afterwards and everything that had been built on the site had just been left as it was. It then became the home of some crocodiles but due to being confined with little food they were then rescued and moved. I did expect to see alot more people exploring when I there but suprisingly there was only a couple of other backpackers and a local woman who set up some seats selling cold drinks and charging 5000vnd (£0.15) to park your motorbikes, its a scam as no one owns the property or land and you can avoid paying but to save the hassle I paid the very small amount she asked for.

Heres some photos I took during my exploration, enjoy!

The main attraction is this dragon sitting in the middle of the lake, you can just see Lauren and I standing in the mouth

Lovely shots. It must really feel odd walking around such a place. I know id never attempt it. :)

Thank you. Yeah it felt eery and creepy at times, almost like I was being watched all the time!

Dope place, a shame i didn't know about it when I was there.

Yeah I wouldn't have known either if I didn't meet those backpackers!

Great photos! That looks like a place I'd love to explore. Too bad about that old car... That would make a great restoration project!

Why did the park close down? It seems such a shame to put all of that money into such an interesting attraction and, then, just let it decay into ruin. Although, ruins are usually more fun from a photographer's standpoint :-)

Nice work!

No idea why it closed it down! Couldn’t really find much information on it. It’s definitely worth exploring if you are ever in Vietnam

Thats pretty awesome, did you find any creepy shit?

Thanks! Nah but a part of me really wanted the crocodiles to be there haha
