This Photo shows the blue sky over the Mulu National Park in Borneo, Malaysia.
In the evening you can see millions of bats soar up into the sky. To confuse their natrual enemy and increase chances of survival, they leave their cave togehter and build this uniqe formation. It is called a "corkscrew" formation.
This was truly a great moment, witnessing this event.
If you start to read about bats, soon you will realize how important they are for us. They are the only mamal that flies during night. Some rare plants only flourisch during night time and wouldn´t it be for the bats those plants couldn´t survive.
Also Bats are our friends, they hunt Mosquitos. In the Mulu National Park I faced less problems with those little bloodsuckers than in a big populated area.
Furthermore, bats are really good for the environment, they eat rotten fruits, they prey on insects, their s..t (guano) is a really powerful fertilizer.

However the numbers of those astonishing little creatures are dropping fast.
