Buy the good quality tripod stand. This type of photography requires high exposure shots hence camera is required to be stable.
The right camera
Hence all DSLR camera provide manual control so there is no issue of it but the main problem with most of the cameras are they do not provide full frame sensor with high ISO capab
ilities .ISO (International Standards Organization, which is the governing body that sets sensitivity standards for sensors in digital cameras) is the sensitivity of the camera sensors towards light. Usually entry level DSLR have limitations here, which may cause the grain in the image during night time.
Format of your image
Shoot in JPEG format as it allows you to capture the details of the shots as it is. Hence you have the full details in your shot, you can edit it in the editing software .one of the most popular editing app for photo is adobe photoshop or adobe Lightroom.
Join the community
Joining to communities is the vital step to enhance your photography. And if it is possible go for a photography trip with professional person. It will definitely enhance your skill. Experience is more important than technical knowledge.

It is the important step, don’t be afraid of sharing your work. You can share your work on Instagram, 500px etc. This will help you to learn from others and also good comments will boost your self-confidence.

Battery – ensure that your camera is fully charged because it sometimes take more than 30 minutes to get a perfect shot
Lens – always use wide angle lens because you are trying to capture a endless thing i.e sky.

Just to point out. Shooting in JPEG does not capture the details as it is. Shooting in RAW does this
