Tonight's Creepy post - Bennett College in Millbrook, NY
I found this place around 2010 and had to see it. Now my wife will say she doesn't stop me from doing anything - getting into this place is one of those things that makes that statement a lie.
The first bunch of photos here were taken about 2 years ago, when I was doing some tourism photography. Unfortunately, I didn't get blessed with a cloudy gloomy night, like the photos I originally saw online. At least there were a bunch of stars. My wife had to drop me off and drive around while I was shooting- since it is off a main road & it was probably 2am, the next morning I took a quick few as we were leaving the area.
Here is Wikipedia's take on the building:
Bennett College was founded in 1890 at Irvington, New York by May F. Bennett. In 1907 the college moved to its final home on 22 acres (89,000 m2) in Millbrook, Dutchess County, New York. In 1907 the school had an enrollment of 120 students and a faculty of 29. Originally named The Bennett School for Girls, the course of study was six years (four years of high school and two years of higher study). In the early 20th century the school discontinued high school courses and became a junior college only. The two-year curriculum continued through the 1970s. Generations of young women from prominent American families attended Bennett over its 90-year history.
Majors of study included art, fashion design, interior design, music, modern languages, literature, history, dance, drama, child development, equine studies, and domestic science. Activities at Bennett included gymnastics, golf, tennis, horseback riding and skiing. The school was home to a full-time teaching Nursery School for 3 and 4 year olds as well as a riding stable.
These photos were taken maybe 6 or 7 years ago, when we were on the way to Salem, Mass. You could tell that sections are more collapsed in the above photos (but they did add plywood since this time over windows).
This is the opposite side of the building, it is a residential area, and supposedly anyone parking there and walking towards the building will have police or tow trucks called on them
Very cool looking place. It would be fun to sneak around in, but I'm guessing it is very unsafe. It looks to be on the verge of collapse!
@therealwolf 's created platform smartsteem scammed my post this morning (mothersday) that was supposed to be for an Abused Childrens Charity. Dude literally stole from abused children that don't have mothers ... on mothersday.
