Creepy daily photo post.....until I figure out a better name for it....Catacombs anyone???

In 2015, I was very excited to go to Paris for the Catacombs my Honeymoon.

Between leaving home, getting to the airport, getting to Paris at like 9am, then finally finding our closet sized hotel room- it felt like forever ( I suck at sleeping on flights). We had tickets to the dumb ol' wonderful Eiffel Tower at 1pm. We made that - it had to be 80 degrees, went back to the hotel to get ready for our Catacombs tour at 4pm. One of the best parts of the Catacombs is that the tickets are cheap, I think they were $12 US. We got to the air conditioned hotel room (its only decent amenity) & that $24 meant nothing to me. We crashed for around 15 hours with the intent of getting our breakfast and over to the Catacombs like 90 minutes before opening. Everything worked perfectly- best $24 I ever wasted.

Since this was a self guided tour, I made the average 45 minutes into about 3 hours. I think I went back to the beginning (of the good stuff) at least 3 times. I took a TON of photos, since there was no flash allowed, and I would be flipping out if my photos were out of focus. If you look up other photos, you'll notice a lot of the same skulls because they are the ones near light bulbs.

Like this one with the 'N' or 'Z' marking:

Or the Famous Heart, which isn't easy to shoot since the aisle is narrow:

Here are a few more, I'm sure I'll be posting more in the future:

ALSO if you plan to go, go soon, because it seems like many places like this are starting to stop photography!

LOL, i spent SIX hours in line for about 20-30 minutes of skulls ... if it werent for the australian and american couple i got to talk to all that time that would seriously have been a wasted day, i was only three days in paris ...

i think it's worth it
if you have like a week or ten days in the city, otherwise père lachaise is a bit less frustrating to get into hahah

i thought to do it after dark like here in hellgium graveyards stay open 24 hours but there it closes after office hours

bummer ...

We got there 90 minutes of them opening and we may have been 10 people in front of us. Like I said in the post, I spent about 3 hours down there. With it being dark, I didn't want to take a chance of the photos being blurry. Catacombs was my #1 place to go. I've gone to them in Rome and most places strictly restrict photography. Père Lachaise was great as well. You are right, I'd love to shoot some of the cemeteries at night- but most close long before sundown.

We were just talking about seeing if you guys wanted to go to the Sedlec Ossuary this fall!

Definitely sounds good. Have to look into it. There's like 3 places we're talking about, with a Paris return as the cheap alternative if all else fails

I've always wanted to go to the catacombs. I've been to ossuaries in .. Poland? Cesky - can remember now. They're crazy places!!

I'll have to look into those. We were talking about going to Poland & Germany this fall.

I'm wracking my brain for the name of it!!

AAAH - I found it - it's this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_Chapel,_Czermna
