#3 Gabi, Catch-lights. Brazil, 2008. [OSC]

This is my daughter Gabi, when she was 4, I believe.

I love this photo and I believe that what makes it special are the catch-lights on her eyes and the bright hair. Catch-lights are extremely important on children's photography. You get them by having a well defined light source in front of your subject. North facing windows a great for this. The hair I achieved by using some local adjustments in Lightroom, like paint the lights with a brush to enhance contrast and definition.

I don't remember the camera but it was likely a Nikon D80 and a 50mm 1.8.

Thanks

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 4.5 and reading ease of 86%. This puts the writing level on par with Ernest Hemingway and Donald Trump.

I have not seen a person who loved virtue, or one who hated what was not virtuous. He who loved virtue would esteem nothing above it.
