Bright, Clean, and Cute: Creating Styled Desk Images
I recently created some styled desk images for a client. You’ve probably seen them all over the internet, maybe without really noticing.
It’s the cute desk, with the coffee or latte, a casually placed pen. It’s usually bright and clean looking. If there’s clutter, it’s the perfect amount to make you think that work has been happening, but in a way that’s completely productive - not distracting.
So when I took on this project, I was working off of terms like “bright,” “clean,” and “cute.”
This was my first time doing a shoot like this, and I have to tell you, it was pretty fun to pull in random items and style them in a way that tells a story of work and possibilities. Because that’s what these images do: they give an impression of creating something, and if you really look at the images, maybe, like me, you begin to wonder about the kind of work that could be done in in a space like that. What kind of ideas would you come up with if your work space was similar?
These types of images make me think about creators and innovators, thinkers and doers. The best part is that these images are so versatile. This style of image isn’t really bound by field, or borders, or audience.
Let me know what you think!
P.S. I plan to offer a free download pack of images from my website (not available yet), but feel free to use the images in my post if you like - let me know if you do, I'd love to see how they get used!
