The Busker and The Vagrant. Sydney Street Photography Series #1
Around Darling Harbour, in Sydney, buskers often perform, much to the delight of the bystanders. Musicians, magicians, and everything in between can be enjoyed at a Darling Harbour busker show.
I can't remember what this particular show was about, but I remember noticing this homeless man enjoying the show, a bottle of beer in one hand, a cigarette in the other.
I loved the fact that this man could step outside of his difficult life, at least for a moment, and enjoy the busker show. The hope was to portray this man as a real human being, who just wants to enjoy life, rather than as a caricature.
I took this photo with an old Canon EOS with Ilford HP5 film. I developed and enlarged the image myself with old-school chemicals. Fun times!
Those buskers and street musicians really bring such life onto city life, dont they :) I am glad the homeless man can also enjoy such entertainment and atmosphere. Maybe he can forget about his own woes for a little while :)
I love buskers and street musicians. They indeed do bring life to the city. Imagine how drab our cities would be without them!
