Food Photography Tips Use Mobile Phone Camera
Do you like food photography? But do not have DSLR cameras? No problem, you can still do it with the camera phone. Want to know how to snap a good and right food?
Tips this time came from the workshop 'Good Food, Good Shot' held by Polytron Smartphone through Polytron Community ID. This workshop collaborated with food blogger, Foodaffair, at Café Discussion of Sharing Space Coffee, Jakarta.
Foodaffair provides some tips and tricks for you who like to take pictures of food to produce quality photos with just a camera phone.
1. Natural light
The first thing you can do in food photography is to notice the coming light. Natural light coming from the sun, will give a soft impression and is not contrived on your photo. Try shooting in golden hours. Namely at 8-10 am or 4-5 pm, when the sun light is golden. This will give the impression of warm and slightly dramatic.
2. Find the right picture angle
Photographing food can be done from two angles, ie eye level or top angle. Eye level is to take pictures with the eye level. While the top angle is shooting from the top. The selection of shooting angles depends on the message you want to convey.
3. Styling
Food photography is closely related to styling. Although the main subject is food, but the result will be less interesting if the photo only displays the food on the plate.
4. Shoot the fresh food
There are some foods that look quickly changed after serving, such as ice cream. Therefore, you should immediately take pictures when the food is still fresh.
5. Do not use zoom
Mobile phone cameras tend to minimize photo objects, so always try to take pictures from a sufficient distance so that the entire object can meet the frame without having to use the zoom.
6. Rule of thirds
The photo area is divided into 9 squares with 2 horizontal and 2 vertical, there will be 4 dots of the line. The main object is placed at one of these points. The rule where 1/3 of the frame is used for the main object and 2/3 is used for the background.
7. Editing
Before sharing photos to social media, you can polish them with mobile apps. Whether it's for cropping, setting the color mood, and so on
