RE: Fantastic betel-nut flower

in #photography7 years ago

I grew up in East Africa where we had quite a strong Asian population. As a child I was fascinated by their red mouths when they chewed on something and they would spit onto the road and the spit would also be red. I wondered what it tasted like, but never found out. I also remember how they would put some red powder on slices of green mango and eat it - always wondered whether it was cayene pepper or something else.

Still, today I learned that the betel nut comes from a palm tree plant.

Thanks
