we just want to inform you, that you can get in serious legal troubles when using Copyright protected Images - to use those images you must get explicit permission from the copyright owner. the official apod mirror on steemit can be found here https://steemit.com/@apod

I'm actually very confused by your responses. The NASA Open API specifically talks about opening up this data and content for use in applications and services. It even talks about using it to post on twitter and instagram. I love what you guys are doing, but the message you are conveying right now is totally different than what is on the official NASA API website. The NASA API website also even gives specific examples of how to do automated posts of APOD. Here are some excerpts:

The objective of this site is to make NASA data, including imagery, eminently accessible to application developers.

This endpoint structures the APOD imagery and associated metadata so that it can be repurposed for other applications.

These keywords could be used as auto-generated hashtags for twitter or instagram feeds

Right, that is true for NASA pictures. They can be used and shared without much concern.
But the ones that were featured in apod yesterday and today have private copyrights on them.
Apod being mirrored not only here on steemit, but also on twitter, facebook, instagram, reddit, etc are official mirrors of apod and therefore have allowance to use the same pictures as used on the official homepage.
Just please be aware of that.

Ok thank you for the clarification
