Let's travel together at the Ion Creanga's Memorial House in Iasi (Romania)
Happy weekend, my dear friends!
In today's post I am going to present you Ion Creanga, a Romanian writer, recognized for his fairy tales and captivating stories. I went to visit his memorial house in Iasi (Romania) and I want to tell you my experience.
To get to Creanga's house is very simple. Once you get in Iasi, anyone can direct you to this place of story that keeps today the living memory of the most famous and loved Romanian narrator.
The museum is located not far from the city center, in the district called Ţicău, on Simion Barnuţiu Street. Interesting and pleasant is that the aspect of this neighborhood of Iasi remained faithful to that period and resembles a genuine Romanian village.
Over time, it became a symbol of Iasi, Creanga's house being at the same time the first memorial museum in Romania, opened on April 15, 1918.
Here, Ion Creanga lived from 1872 until December 31, 1889.
When you love a place, something of you stays there - all the life of that place remains impregnated with your love. So is his house - a reflection of Creanga's soul.
All the stories and memories of childhood who delighted us and where each one of us had come back, were written in his little house.
It is keeped even today as shown in the years 1872-1889: a house with two small rooms with a large entrance to the north, where is the entrance door and in the oposite part of the house you can see a generous landscape of the eastern horizon, supported by the Ciric and Sorogari hills.
His house was opened to the public on 15 April 1918 - being the first literary memorial museum in Romania. The house was visited from 1890, immediately after the writer's death, by groups of pupils, students, professors and journalists.
To get to it, you have to descend some stairs, as if they are from the story, with flowers and grass all around.
In the building are exposed: books, photographs and documents illustrating the life of Ion Creanga.
In the room I saw the work table, the lamp, the pen and many other original objects. Inside are exposed only the original objects belonging to the storyteller or his family.
Creanga's house is undoubtedly a place worth seeing, a symbol not only of Iasi, but of the entire country, because it identifies itself with Romanian values.
Unfortunatelly it was very crowded in that day and I couldn't take photos inside.
I wish everyone a nice weekend and for my romanian friends, Happy Easter!
Love,
@allesia
