Primate’s Palace – Bratislava

in #photography7 years ago

The Primate’s Palace was a gift for Archbishop József Batthyány. It was designed by Architect Melchior Hefele and the construction began in 1778. The palace was completed by 1781 in the Neoclassical motif and style.

The Palace has a historical significance – it was an instrument in concluding the War of the Third Coalition. One of the chambers in the Palace called Hall of Mirrors was the place where the Fourth Peace of Pressburg was signed by Johann I Josef, Ignácz Gyulay and Charles Maurice de Talleyrand. Today, it is the official Mayor’s Building of Bratislava.
