Peak Challenger

In the mountains of Big Anngachak of the Magadan region there is a rock similar to a huge spaceship. Its height is 2000m above sea level. This fang, built of huge monoliths, is clearly visible from the southern part of Lake Jack London.

Previously, he was called Devil's Finger, but when tragedy with the Challenger happened in America, the rock was renamed in memory of the dead carriage. You can walk to this rock along a stream with a rather unusual name for hearing - Sibik-Tiellah. What is translated from the Yakut language as Unknown Wind. And indeed, in that narrow valley a changeable gusty wind often blows.

This stream, as well as the Unknown, flows through several picturesque lakes through a trough valley created by a glacier. In its upper reaches there is a waterfall and a small lake nestled in a rock circus where snow sheep often graze. On this lake, I found a large piece of quartz with tourmalines. I could not take such a souvenir and, despite the weight, I threw it into my backpack.
