PHOTOGRAPHY # technique photographing on the beach
Taking pictures on the beach is easy. Easy because basically the view is presented is good, so no need to bother looking for angle so that photos look beautiful.
However, sometimes difficult because the sky color greatly affects the image, so it needs alignment or editing with a pretty hard effort. Well, here are some tips to photograph photos of the beach to look beautiful without edits.
This time we wanted to write some photography tips on the beach area, including the island and sea. There is a term, "relaxed like on the beach, slow as on the island" .. so we make aja wrote this time hehe. As we know that every area of each photographic object always has certain characteristics, then photography techniques for these objects also have their own characteristics in order to obtain maximum results, including photography techniques on the beach.
Beach Location Condition
Beach location is generally yes there is sand, there is sea water, this is usually the main object POI (point of interest) in coastal photography. Then, what else ? There is sky, there are clouds, boats and little trees that are usually coconut trees. But with the number of objects that-that's all, it turns out a lot of creativity that we can dig there, because the combination becomes infinite if we enter the element of time. Hunting photos in the morning, afternoon or afternoon time will certainly be different, as well as certain slow or fast shutter speed will produce results that each unique.
Observe the location of hunting and find interesting objects. Interesting objects do not have to be wah, sometimes the simple ones are the most interesting. Of course different perspective for each person. The most easy for example take photos of white sand beaches, choppy sea and cloudy sky. This is a standard combination of photos on the beach. In other frames include rocks, long docks, dead old wood or coconut trees. His name is hunting photos, eyes must be literate and jelly, like eagles catching prey .
Composition On The Beach
Beach is the easiest location to learn the composition, why? Because there is a sea horizon. Already know the rules of Rule of Third? This marine horizon can be used as an underline marker or an upper line of the boundaries of the Rule of Third. Suppose we take the composition 1/3 beach, 1/3 sea and 1/3 sky. If there are other objects such as boats, we can arrange for the boat is located 1/3 frame and towards 2/3 other frames so that the photo as if could tell the story "the journey is still far".
In addition to the beach view can be broad in every direction, there are no objects that make distract or interfere with the composition that we will take. Simply compare to doing the composition on the beach with the market where many objects are disturbing. Certainly easier on the beach.
Well grab the opportunity when on the beach to establish a composition technique. Another idea is to ignore the rules of the Rule of Third and break all compositional concepts and create beyond the grip to train instinct in composition.

Lighting Gold**
There is the term "be early or be late". Come early in the morning, or late afternoon just do not come at night * lol *. Because of the open sea conditions, the sun's light is also abundant. So if it is too late it will be very difficult to set the lighting. The most steady is to use the time called golden hour, ie from the start of the Sunrise until before the day is too late (approximately before 08.00 am) and also at the afternoon at around 16:00 until before the sun is entirely submerged.
At that time, the sunlight is softer and dramatic, the sky is still graded from the yellow blue color and the flush is a tantalizing object for landscape photographers. It should be noted that in this condition the light is still very minimal so do the setting of exposure and metering properly so as not underexpose (photos tend to dark). No need to be afraid of trial and error, if it is too dark to raise the aperture opening for example from f / 11 to f / 8. Or it could also raise the ISO, but not too high because it can make a lot of noise photos. For shutter speed there is no benchmark, depending on the purpose of the photo. We explain in the Moment section.
The most difficult part of learning photography is setting exposure manually starting from shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Again do not be afraid to try, trial and error as much as possible without fear of running out of movie hehehe. For safest metering just use evaluative, except want to take photo silhouette then must use spot metering.
moment
say this as a decisive moment because this is not street photography. Moment is meant here is an event that we will take that can make a photo story without too many words. I took two examples of a totally different moment from the same object. Waves.
The waves are thrilling. This waves we capture in the photo to show its strength or ferocity. The waves must be visible detail, the muscles, the grains of sweat as if-threatening beaches and rocks. We can grab the moment of this wave with high shutter speed so the waves become freeze and the detail is visible. High shutter speed requirements are sufficient light or high enough ISO.
Wave Cotton. This is my personal term only, I do not really memorize the general term. The point is to make the waves soft, as soft as cotton. The way the time must be early in the morning, when light is still a little. The compulsory tool is a tripod, because the process is to take a photo of the waves with an old shutter speed, so it will effect the waves to be like white cotton for blur, while other objects such as sky, sand and rocks remain sharp.
Other moments you can think of are boats and sun, seagulls and waves, fishermen throwing fishing rods, sand trails erased waves and so forth.
filter
I personally frankly rarely use filters. But the point here filter serves as a tool only. Not being the decider of photos will be better, but the main factor is us. Filters used include ND Filter (Neutral Density) which serves to reduce light flood, suitable for use in the daytime. Then there is a UV filter that is useful in addition to lens protection but also filters ultraviolet light within a certain range. This can reduce the atmospheric haze that often appears at sea, although the effect is not so much.
Finally is a Polarizing filter (CPL), serves to filter out some polarized light. The point is to reduce reflection and increase contrast, usually the main effect is the sky becomes more blue, tend to dark blue.
Hunting Destination Location
After knowing some photography techniques on the beach above, may arise the intention / plan to immediately hunting photos on the beach. Indonesia is a land of thousands of islands, just choose to model what beach hehehe. But if you are in Jakarta closest, low cost and unspoiled conditions can try to the island of a thousand. Can hold your own event, or can use a service bureau to facilitate travel such as paketpulauseribu.com. Finally, so long ago, hopefully useful, add knowledge and improve skills and abilities in the field of photography.
so from me, hopefully useful and see you back in the next photography technique
