The Ashy Wood-swallow (Artamus fuscus) typically also known as the ashy swallow-shrike is a wood-swallow that is discovered in southern Asia. Like some other wood-swallow, it has a short curve bill and a short square tail and also long wings. It is usually spotted perched in groups, high on power-lines, tall uncovered trees as well as quite often in areas with a predominance of tall palm trees.

It possesses ashy grey upper-part with a darker head as well as a slim pale band on the rump. The bottom part is pinkish grey and the small slaty black colored tail is tipped in bright white. The finch-like bill is silvery. In flight the long wing appears extremely wide at the bottom providing it a very triangular outline.

Wood-swallows are seen in a range of habitats from the plains to about 2000 m, over cultivated areas, in forest clearings and often in areas with tall palm trees. The species is widely distributed across Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia and China. They are absent in the very arid regions of western India. They have been recorded on the island of Maldives.

Although mainly feeding on insects, they also take nectar from flowers of trees. They have been recorded feeding on toxic butterflies like Euploea core which are avoided by other birds
