Smartphone Minimal Street Photography - Alienation

Hello fellow Steemians!

The photo I'm sharing today is a sister shot of the one I shared on my previous post, and makes for an interesting comparison.

Both photos were taken at a beach.
Both are framed in portrait mode.
Both feature tiny figures at the bottom of the frame.

But whereas the photo on my previous post was taken in bright sunlight, this one was taken on the last minutes of dusk. The other photo (hopefully) evoques a majestic sense of adventure, whereas this one is oppressive, not only because the figures are surrounded by darkness, but also because they are contained within a circle of light; an arena of sorts.
On the other picture, there's a connection between the figures and the sky; on this one, I'm looking down at the figures and they have the horizon line way above their heads. There are a few lights from the boats along the horizon, like hope trying to pierce through the dark.

Both were unplanned, as is frequently the case; I was just taking a walk and noticed the scene. I didn't even know there was a light on this beach.

I don't have the habit of naming my photos, but every time I look at this one I immediately think about "Alienation", not only due to the characteristics I previously mentioned - isolation, oppressiveness - but also because it always reminds me of an hypothetical UFO beam! Yes, I am that silly.

That being said, and since the previous post was indeed my tip of the hat to Elon Musk and his space exploration quest, this one is a fitting "other side of the coin", alien references and all. In space we will need to provide our own light if we are to navigate the long, long darkness ahead of us.

A foto que partilho hoje é irmã da que partilhei no meu post anterior, e permite fazer uma comparação interessante entre as duas.

Ambas foram tiradas numa praia.
Ambas enquadradas em modo retracto.
Ambas apresentam pequenas figuras no fundo do enquadramento.

Mas ao passo que a foto do post anterior foi tirada à chapa do Sol, esta foi praticamente ao anoitecer. A outra foto invoca (espero) um sentido majestoso de aventura, enquanto que esta é opressiva, não só porque as figuras estão rodeadas pela escuridão, mas também porque estão colocadas dentro de um circulo de luz; uma espécie de arena.
Na outra imagem, há uma ligação entre as figuras e o céu; nesta, estou a olhar de cima para baixo para as figuras e têm a linha de horizonte colocada bem acima das suas cabeças. São visíveis algumas luzes de barcos ao longo do horizonte, como pontos de esperança a tentar perfurar a escuridão.

Nenhuma das fotografias foi planeada, como frequentemente o caso; estava a fazer uma caminhada e deparei-me com a cena. Nem sabia que esta praia tinha um holofote.

Não sou de batizar fotografias, mas sempre que olho para esta ocorre-me logo "Alienação", tanto pelas características que mencionei - isolamento, opressão - como também porque a palavra é composta por "Alien" e o circulo de luz lembra-me sempre um hipotético fecho de luz de um OVNI! Sou muito pateta, é verdade.

Posto isto, e dado que o post anterior foi uma humilde homenagem ao Elon Musk e à sua demanda pela exploração espacial, este acaba por ser um "o outro lado da moeda" bastante adequado, incluindo a referência a aliens. No espaço vamos ter que providenciar a nossa própria luz para navegar a longa escuridão que temos pela frente.
