Seal Hunt @ the Royal Albatross Centre

On Wednesday we visited the Royal Albatross Centre in Dunedin. The Royal Albatross is one of the largest birds in the world, next to it's slightly larger cousin, the wandering albatross. It was cool to see one of these birds with it's chick

We also witnessed a spectacular sight - a sea lion chasing down a fur seal from the albatross viewing area. At first we thought it was a larger fur seal playing with a smaller one but then saw the sea lion aggressively drag it through the water by the neck and we quickly realized this was a hunt. It was sad to watch, but a win for nature since the NZ sea lion is considered endangered.
