Dark clouds, thick and heavy, Blankets the blue sky.
I could hear the rolling storms raging.
Seems the sun has lost her rays and becomes shy.

I am the product of life's ups and downs,
Laying in the mud, faceless and voiceless.
A diamond in the dirt? I do not know now,
All I know is that once I had a face and a voice, I had beauty, I was nothing less.

I had wings, full and brightly coloured wings,
They scented of freedom's petals.
Now, I have half my wings,
I sacrificed half of my being to life to live,
Now I smell of rusted metals.

So, I resign... To my fate.

But the sun...
She broke through, dispelled the darkness with her light,
The raging storms kept still like the night.
The sun sent forth millions of rays like fireworks from her belly,
I could see the clouds shudder at her bravery- really.

As a ray of hope falls on me,
My broken wings tingles,
Feeling a surge of energy as I watched a sleeping flower bloom.
If I must get what I need, I must face my fears and conquer, like the sun did!

So...
I flap my torn wings painfully,
I have trust my strengths
When I ride my weaknesses, I'll grow strength right there.
I will sip the nectar of my desire
And let it burn my frailty away like fire,
Trusting that time heals a lot of things even these broken wings.
But now, I'll bask in my strengths,
and glory in my weakness.
These broken wings will learn to fly
