I had the privilege of visiting Komodo National Park in Indonesia last year and what a beautiful underwater world it was. Shooting in such clear water was a dream come true and the colour and complexity of the coral reefs did not disappoint.
Like many of the regions of the world, there was a lack of large pelagic species and sharks decimated by years of intensive fishing and unsustainable practices but I did see a couple of reef sharks on a couple of dives so fingers crossed enforcement will help to build these populations in the future. If we are to manage our marine resources seriously, enforcement of marine protected areas needs to be our top priority.
