When Melanie Griffith and Tippi Hedren shared their home with a lion

in #photo7 years ago (edited)

Heroine of the film The Hitchcock Birds, the actress Tippi Hedren feared fewer big foxes than the small birds: in 1971, the Californian house that she shares with the producer Noel Marshall and her daughter Melanie Griffith becomes the playground of Several tame (but untrained) lions. The goal ? Get to know these felines to prepare for the filming of the movie Roar. Immortalized by the photographer Michael Rougier, the improbable situation gives rise to hallucinating scenes of life, both terrifying and touching.

Roar's shooting lasted six years, injuring 70 people and costing more than $ 17 million. The film yields only two, and the couple Hedren / Marshall separates a year after the release of the film.

"Roar" starred Hedren and Marshall, with Melanie paying Hedren's on-screen daughter. The film was written and directed by Marshall and produced by Hedren and Marshall. Marshall had been producer of 1973's "The Exorcist."
