The Ani Ruins, located at the UNESCO Temporary List of World Heritage Sites, is the city that witnessed countless depressions and wars, and has been lifted by excavation and restoration work since 2011.

In Ani, also known as "1001 Church Town", 40 churches, chapels and monumental tombs have been identified to date.

Ani cathedral made of red stones was destroyed in an earthquake in 1319 and another corner was destroyed in a subsequent earthquake.

UNESCO Dünya Mirası Geçici Listesi'nde yer alan Ani Harabeleri, sayısız depreme ve savaşa tanıklık eden kent, 2011’den beri kazı ve restorasyon çalışmaları ile ayağa kaldırılıyor. “1001 Kilise Şehri” olarak da anılan Ani’de, bugüne kadar 40 kilise, şapel ve anıt mezar tespit edildi. Kırmızı taşlarla yapılmış Ani Katedrali’nin 1319’daki bir depremde tavanı, daha sonraki bir depremde ise başka bir köşesi yıkılmış.
