Scientists have collected two different types of embryonic stem cells extracted from mice. Once incorporated into a laboratory dish, she grew to form the early stage of the fetus, called "blastocyst" (hollow ball of cells), before being implanted in the uterus.

The cells initially led to changes in the uterus, such as those resulting from the 3.5-day natural embryo, but failed to properly complete cultivation.
