Mount Everest, Czomolungma - the highest peak of the Earth, an eight-thousander located in the High Himalayas, on the border between Nepal and the People's Republic of China.

Mount Everest until 1865 was called Peak XV, given by the Indian Topographic Service. In 1865, in honor of Welsh geographer and cartographer Sir George Everest, who initiated the work on the map of India, the summit was named Mount Everest

In Tibetan, it is called Czomolungma, meaning the Goddess Mother of Snow or the Goddess Mother Earth, in Sufarmatha of Nepali, or the Forehead of Heaven
