The broken door: How the most simple things teach us the most.
not the actual doors of the story. I wish though
I will tell you a short story. The story is not special by any means, but yet it is spectacular.
I and my girlfriend are volunteering in one hostel in Buenos Aires. We take care of the place and help guests with their questions.
So the lock of the door got broken today. We were expecting guests, so something had to be done. My girlfriend asked me to fix it.
I know myself pretty well. It is wrong on so many levels, but my first thought was:
The owner will fix it when he is back. I have never done anything similar and I cannot do things like that. I just don't know how.
And it is true - I have never fixed any doors before. However, my girlfriend told be that we need it to work. Now.
Of course, I was rolling my eyes for a bit, but I looked into the lock. It took me 5 minutes to fix it, and the doors are working perfectly now.
Seriously, I did not even sweat. 5 freaking minutes.
What is the moral of the story? Well, it's your lucky day today. There are 3
We are actually capable of doing anything in our lives if we only try. All the preconceptions and prejudices can only fool us. Tell a boy that he cannot swim and he will drown. Tell him how to swim, and he will be faster than all those fishes in the Sea.
We will all find a lot of locked doors in our lives, which only we can open. That is when we have to choose: howl near the closed door or simply learn how to pull the handle (it is usually simpler than we think). I personally choose to learn, because of all the stuff behind the door. Care to join me?
Your girlfriend is always right. Always. Case closed.

Great post , reminds me of a time when i changed a light switch and felt the relief and boost in Power! , brain power to be precise. Taught me to face responsibility and not shun away from action .
Tried 3 times and grew frustrated before it worked tho ;) 4th time's a charm :D
Thanks @j3dy I can understand the frustration you felt after the 3 times, but 4th time does make it all worth it, right? :)
Follow and upvoted. Great story!
Thanks @automaton! I am glad you enjoyed it!
@writingamigo
wahahahahaha thanks for the lol
I am glad it made you laugh! It is sad to me, though... But still have to admit it lol
@writingamigo well, I don't know but I heard someone famous said that, too in A dam he said; He has 2 secrets in life - 1, To Think Big , 2. to always listen to his wife cause his wife is always right hahahah
This illustrates a very good point- we are capable of WAY more than we imagine! And, we should give ourselves more credit!
well we aren't using much of that imagination and we tend to not stray far from the norm , might be the reason.
There are many amazing works , books, people , the credit part i have to agree, give me some :) , you're welcome to my posts , any of the 4 , whatever topic suits you :)
Oh yes, we should! No matter what are our excuses not to do something - those excuses should not prevail. I love to think that we are capable of anything. Yes, we might fail sometimes, but trying the best is more important so often. Thanks for your thoughts, @pyrowngs!
Short yet true, I like it!!! Resteemed.
Thank you so much, @cognoscere! I will try to make more of those short articles straight to the point and save my readers' time from reading 1000+ words, haha.
I truly appreciate your support!
Well, I wasn't trying to imply that longer posts are somehow bad. I just happened to like how you conveyed so much with so little, and that's a good thing IMHO.
I know you did not. I just made some fun from myself.
I have to agree that short text with a powerful thought has a better effect... at least on the nowadays internet. So I am learning to do it little by little!
Good :) !
