The Three Path's - Part 1: The Path of Mind
This is an excerpt from a book in which I am currently working on relating to philosophy, psychology, spirituality, history, and religion. This section pertains to 1 of the 3 pathways I have found that lead to a form of "inspiration," "awakening," or "enlightenment," but I truly dislike using any of these words for the experience is different for everyone. This excerpt relates to The Path of Mind while the other two pathways are The Path of Body and The Path of Spirit. This writing is meant as a kind of poetic opinion backed by experience and does not mean to force anyone into thinking anything. “From now on you need never await temporal attestation to your thought. You think the truth. You do not have the right to eliminate yourself. You do not belong to you. You belong to Universe. Your significance will remain forever obscure to you, but you may assume that you are fulfilling your role if you apply yourself to converting your experiences to the highest advantage of others.” -Buckminster Fuller's account of the message he received from a voice in his head when he had an epiphany.
The Three Pathways
There seems to be a common occurrence amongst certain individuals with the characteristics of critical thought, hyper self analysis, and a “jack of all trades” mentality: they go through an epiphany. There seems to be a point of understanding that human consciousness can reach when it thoroughly understands a certain threshold of diversity of systems. From what I have gathered there seems to be several ways to get to this place with the common denominator being a required shifting of perspective or consciousness. Of the multitude of ways to get to this place they all seem to require a choice of three path’s: the path of the Mind, the path of the Body, or the path of the Spirit.
The Path Of Mind
The path of Mind is a psychological pathway one may take to achieve “epiphany,” “enlightenment,” “awakening,” “understanding,” or any other vernacular used for a mystical experience. The path of mind connotes a long and arduous path of honest intellectual study of the nature of physical reality. In my opinion this may be the most difficult path in modern times for there is so much noise in the form of propaganda and ego-science that it is nearly impossible to maintain honest discovery of thought. An individual along this path will have to spend many days, months, weeks, and years isolated from outside socializing with a keen fire in the belly that is constantly asking ‘why?’ A successful individual that follows the path of mind must familiarize themselves with countless philosophies and scientific pursuits that will for many years present an immensely confusing amount of knowledge that will be utterly fragmented and stifling. This is a deliberate facet of this path, for the path of Mind requires an inextinguishable flame of curiosity and easily shuns those that lack commitment or perseverance, two qualities necessary for a keeper of true knowledge.
It is only after the follower of the path of Mind has worked tirelessly for years and years with nothing to show for their pursuits that the path of mind will unlock its doors. The follower must at some point descend into chaos in some form. This is the path of Mind’s final test with the purpose of cleansing you of all past corruptions by searing the mind in the fire of Hades. In a less poetic format this can be understood as going through an intense period of negativity usually in the form of severe depression or sadness. This does not suggest that any depressed or sad person is on the precipice of understanding. It is a different kind of sadness. It is ultimate sadness (brought about by the understanding of the futility of the human condition and the dissolution of all conditioned precepts) to the point of submission in which signifies the final stage. A depression so systemic that it is as low as one can possibly go. It is only in this state that the follower can be accurately judged as a person deserving of the knowledge. If one truly understands the nature of the human condition it dissolves the shackles of fear by introducing the individual to the nature of death. When one understands the nature of death, fear is abolished from the individual's consciousness forever. When one no longer fears death due to understanding its nature, all obstacles and barriers dissolve as well. It is a truly liberating and amazing experience to no longer have fear because it makes any situation based in love regardless of the relative condition of the space-time in which you find yourself.
It is at this time when a synthesis will occur for those who have done the required work. All of the years of study that the follower of the mind has been through and every intellectual experience they have ever had will synthesize into one flowing picture of nature. The follower for the first time will see how each system they have studied interacts with another and the follower will truly see and understand the oneness of all.
