The Map Is Not The Territory
Greetings and Salutations Bright Steemian Multiverse!
In Neuro Linguistic Programing, we have a saying:
The map is not the territory.
More and more as I travel through life, I learn the reality of this principle belief or "presupposition" found within the practice of NLP.
In a nutshell...
People respond to their experiences and not to reality itself. We don't have access to reality as it is, we do not know reality. We experience reality through our senses, our filter systems, our beliefs - our own personal 'map' of reality.
When we look at a map of Chicago, do we see all of Chicago? I think not, The map that we look at only shows a small percentage of what it is that actually rests upon those streets. More so, if we look at a map of Chicago from 1968, do we see the same map, or Chicago that existed then? NO!
Chicago, like us, is ever changing and growing. We are ever unfolding to a new state of being, always transforming. Some, spiral backward, others forward, the only constant force that we can count on until the moment of death, is change.
Also consider, that each persons map is different, just as each persons experience here is different. Just because we may walk down the same street walking side by side, moving in the same direction, does that mean that the things we experience and the way we experience them are identical? I think not, just as although we may have walked down an identical life road, our maps will differ. Knowing this, how can we expect a person who walks down a different path, than us to have an identical map? We can not.
Beautify life by accepting and loving difference. Understand that two persons understanding of a thing is never identical although it may be similar. Two peoples maps will never be the same or identical. Accept their map as being formed in the way that it was for a reason, never criticize it. If we find possible error in function, maybe we can propose an alternate route, however, to create feelings of inferiority just because a map may be different than yours, well that's counter productive.

But don't you think our modern societies have learned us to be afraid of different people, to put them on the side. Some studies realised in some kids class showed one that human beings construct a group mind on focusing on something that gather them and really often in the history they had to find a common target in order to be unified... Religions, belief, and human beings stupidity.
True, the group mind, or on the other side of the coin- mob mentality can be a beautiful or a terrible thing. In either case it is the variations in perspective that allows it to be effective. It is easiest to complete a task when it is approached from many angles, and it is easiest to approach something from many angles when there are many people to approach it.
Our realities aren't always positive, for some they certainly are, for others they certainly are not many people live in various sorts of dysfunction in many different degrees, and based on how we approach our personal sets of programing determines that degree and how it is dealt with by the each individual. Negativity in some cases can be easy however the quality of the state seems... Diminished... In comparison to its opposite. To each his own
The case of society rejecting difference is an unfortunate thing but only applies to certain areas. Usually, a person gets defensive of their beliefs when they are challenged. Why do Republicans and democrats bicker? How about Religion? As you said, Beliefs are put into question. And people feel the need to defend them. Foot ball teams and food preferences however, those are accepted as ok because it is personal preference not belief. Light, by nature, possesses all color, darkness, none, the more color we have the better. We should appreciate all of them. That doesn't mean paint your house that color, it simply means appreciate its place in the spectrum and accept it for what it is.
Yeah mate, your answer the real question is why are focusing on nullshit instead of focus on human beings, in other words, on ourself.
Because per my career I focus on helping human beings every day. Per my free time I focus on improving myself, part of that is expressing my thoughts here. Too bad more don't focus on improving quality of life rather than finding what they can pick apart about it. I feel bad for those individuals really. They say misery loves company and that's how they find their company. Recognizing where they're at and Not letting them pull us down is the real key
